“Not bad for a bird”, Phil Neville gives first impressions of England team
New England boss Phil Neville has said he is surprised at the quality on show amongst the women’s team and that he didn’t realise women were able to play football.
England Women’s new manager remarked, “At first I thought they must be the tea-ladies or something but actually they’re not bad for birds. You’d think it would be a bit too physical for them wouldn't you and they’d get all emotional and that, but they were alright.”
The former Manchester United and Everton player has already had to publicly deny being a sexist after less than a week in the job, but he said he’s not going to let that put him off. “I figure it’ll be a good gig” said Neville, “I imagine they keep the changing room spotless and there will always be someone around to iron my shirts.”
