Theresa May to present Macron a slightly old copy of the Beano
As a thank you to France for loaning Britain the Bayeux Tapestry, Theresa May will present French President Emmanuel Macron with a slightly old copy of the Beano this week.
The tea-stained and crumpled 1999 edition of the comic features all the Beano favourites including Dennis the Menace, Gnasher and Rasher, and was found on a coffee table in a Parliament tea room.
A spokesperson for Downing Street commented, “We were caught a bit off guard by Macron’s generosity to be honest with you. We needed something a bit old and British – we found this tattered copy of the Beano, so we thought that’ll bloody do.”
