NASA to adopt 'sleeps' as official measure of time
NASA is to officially adopt 'sleeps' as a measurement of time in a bid to make astronomy more accessible to cutesy 30-somethings.
Under the new classification it will take 1 sleep for the Earth to rotate on it's axis, 365 sleeps for Earth to orbit the sun and 27 sleeps for the moon to orbit Earth. Distance will also be measured in 'sleeps', with Mars classified as 300 sleeps away.
Britain's most famous astronaut, Tim Peake, remarked, "As someone who spent 186 sleeps aboard the International Space Station, I hope this helps people love space as much as I do".
